Being, Identity and Faith

A theological basis for promoting inclusive community

 

 

 

The challenge for any society divided along the lines of ethnicity or people group (race) religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender, culture, or social status is the recognition that politically, economically, socially and spiritually, that society becomes and remains the poorer. Yet, these differences make up the identity of the person. I intend to show that Identity, Being and Faith, constitute the essential nature of human beings and are foundational to a correct understanding and the celebration of 'difference' in the struggle for a just world. It is imperative! This threefold structure comprises core features because Being, Identity and Faith embody without condition essential distinctive characteristics, yet respect all that is common to human beings: our unity (given) in that diversity. That is, each person shares in common with, and belongs to, the nature of the whole human family...
